OBITUARY NOTICES

HENRY ROUDOLPH WESTON

Mr. Henry Roudolph Weston, Sr. of Ridge Street, South Boston, VA passed away Tuesday, July 16th at his residence at the age of 75.

Mr. Weston was born in Ladson, South Carolina on December 23, 1943 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John J. and Jennie W. Douglas and was married to the late Mrs. Conyers Delores James Weston. He was a member of Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church and a retired educator of Person County and Halifax County Public Schools. Mr. Weston was also a business proprietor.

Mr. Weston is survived (1) daughter: Ms. Vanessa Felicia Weston (Gregory Johnson, Jr.); (3) sons: Mr. Henry R. Weston, Jr., Mr. Theodoric M. Weston and Mr. Reginald D. Weston (Delores); (7) grandchildren; (1) great granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Roudolph Weston will be held Sunday, July 21st at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will be Monday, July 22nd at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Ladson, SC.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, 2109 Ridge Street, South Boston, VA.

KEITH CARLYLE DIXON

Mr. Keith Carlyle Dixon of Daniels Trail, Halifax, VA died Wednesday, July 17th at Sentara Woodview Nursing Home at the age of 54.

Mr. Dixon was born in Halifax County on November 21, 1964 to Mrs. Queen Taylor Dixon and the late Mr. Willie Keith Dixon. He was a member of Union Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. 

Mr. Dixon is survived by his mother: Mrs. Queen Taylor Dixon of the home; (3) sisters: Mrs. Jacqueline Dixon (John) of Vernon Hill, VA, Mrs. Tammy King (Charlie) of Hueytown, AL and Mrs. Brandi Britton (Aaron) of Glasgow, VA; (2) uncles: Mr. William Dixon (Vivian) and Mr. James Dixon, all of Halifax, VA; (3) aunts: Mrs. Clara Abbott of Virginia Beach, VA, Mrs. Alice Sims of Halifax, VA, and Mrs. Coreen Watkins of Oxon Hill, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services for Mr. Keith Carlyle Dixon will be on Saturday, July 20th at noon at Union Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Charles Hudson, eulogist, and Rev. Shirley M. Woody officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

At the request of the family there will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends at the residence, 1146 Daniels Trail, Halifax, VA.

HELEN JOHNSON BATES

Mrs. Helen Johnson Bates of Philpot Road, South Boston, VA died Wednesday, July 10th at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 78.

Mrs. Bates was born in Chestang, Alabama on August 26, 1940 to Mr. Frank Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Nellie Williams Johnson. She was married to the late Mr. Lazarus Bates and was a member of Dan River Bethel Baptist Church and was also active with St. Paschal Catholic Church. 

Mrs. Bates is survived by (9) children: Kenny Rawlinson, Lester Rawlinson, Andre Rawlinson, Anthony Rawlinson, Vonderleria Ross, Clarence Hall, Jr., Ericka Dennis, Ronald Hall, and Kenan Massey; (5) daughters-in-law: Michelle Massey, Diane Rawlinson, Laura Rawlinson, Michonne Rawlinson, and Jackie Hall; (45) grandchildren; (45) great grandchildren; (1) brother: Bobby Johnson; (2) sisters-in-law: Judy Johnson and Minnie Johnson; (4) stepchildren: Alvin Elliott, Albert Elliott, Tammy Buster and Tracey Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parent, she was preceded in death by her children: Christopher Rawlinson and Linda Hall; (1) grandson: Andre King; and (4) siblings: Wilhemenia Roberson, Willie D. Johnson, Frank Johnson and Charlenia Hall. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Johnson Bates will be Wednesday, July 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Dan River Bethel Baptist Church, South Boston, VA, with Rev. Dwight L. Wilkerson as eulogist, and Father Rogelio Largoza of St. Paschal Catholic Church, South Boston, VA. Burial will be in the Heritage Family Cemetery, Waldorf, MD at a later date. 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 16th from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, 5069 Philpot Road, South Boston, VA.

BEVERLY DAVID WOOD

Mr. Beverly David Wood of Porter Lane, South Boston, VA died Saturday, July 6th at Sentara Woodview at the age of 80.

Mr. Wood was born in Halifax County on September 12, 1938 to the late Mr. Beverly Isaac Wood and Mrs. Sarah Eliza Jennings Wood Medley and was married to Mrs. Joan Ansari Wood. He was a member of Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church. 

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife: Mrs. Joan A. Wood of the home; (1) brother: Deacon Luther I Wood (Catherine) of Richmond, VA; (3) sisters: Ms. Gladys L. Holt of South Boston, VA, Ms. Mamie Delores Price of Alexandria, VA and Mrs. Dorothy Loraine Moorman (William) of Lenning, VA; (4) step-children: Mr. Calvin Ansari and Mr. Terry Ansari (Sophia), all of Bermuda, Ms. Carolyn Turner of New York and Ms. Anees Ansari of Washington; (1) sister-in-law: Mrs. Ruth Bremma (Alfred); (1) brother-in-law: Mr. Conrad Albouy (Dorene); a host of step-grandchildren, step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (4) sisters: Ms. Mattie Wood, Ms. Lillie Mae Wood, Evangelist Dolly M. Jeffress and Mrs. Adele Wood Burns and (1) brother: Mr. Calvin Wood

Funeral services for Mr. Beverly David Wood will be held on Thursday, July 11th at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder Calvin Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, July 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, 1221 Porter Lane, South Boston, VA.

LOSSIE BRADLEY MILLER

Ms. Lossie Bradley Miller of Myrtle Street, South Boston, VA died on Tuesday, July 2nd at Sentara Woodview Nursing Home at the age of 81.

Ms. Miller was born in Halifax County, VA on March 19, 1938 to the late Mr. Willie Bradley and Mrs. Maggie Daniel Bradley. She was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church.

Ms. Miller is survived by (2) sons: Mr. Moses Miller, Jr. of South Boston, VA and Mr. Lamont Miller of South Boston, VA, (3) grandchildren; (1) sister: Mrs. Louise Kidd (Neville) of Halifax, VA; (1) aunt: Mrs. Hilda Davis (Israel) of Virginia; (2) uncles: Mr. John Daniels and Mr. Clifton Daniels (Frances) all of Halifax, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by (1) daughter: Ms. Shaunice Miller; (2) brothers: Mr. Hillary B. Bradley and Mr. Keister Bradley; and (1) sister: Mrs. Maggie Celestine Chappell.

Funeral services for Ms. Lossie Bradley Miller will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Neville Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Meadville Road, Halifax, VA.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, July 5th from 1: 00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at Jeffres Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends and family at the residence, 114 Myrtle Street, South Boston, VA.
